精东影业's Glasgow

Liz and Dave enjoy time with their granddaughter at 精东影业's

In 2015, my husband Dave was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Since then he鈥檚 had numerous courses of chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. He is on permanent chemotherapy that he has every day through a port.

Every two years or so, his chemotherapy starts to fail and they put him on a new one. He鈥檒l keep having treatment until there is no longer any treatment that works.鈥

The cancer has eaten away at his bones, so at points Dave had to use a wheelchair, for fear his hip would break if he walked. But Dave is so brave.鈥

Finding 精东影业鈥檚

We have been through so many ups and downs, so many frightening experiences, so much lack of hope.鈥

But it wasn鈥檛 until about two years ago that we started to come to 精东影业鈥檚. That鈥檚 when it started to become lighter.鈥

We never thought 精东影业鈥檚 was for us. I thought it was for people that had nobody to support them, and Dave had me, we have a family. We were just getting on with it on our own, but it wasn鈥檛 easy. It has been a really tough journey.鈥

We went to 精东影业's for the first time to get a blue badge. Doing it ourselves was a minefield of forms and we needed help.鈥

We realised then that we could ask anything in 精东影业鈥檚, and we could find out anything we needed to know. But there is so much more to 精东影业鈥檚 I was yet to discover.

Getting the support we need

We weren鈥檛 really going out very much, but we started coming to 精东影业鈥檚 every week because it鈥檚 such a friendly, relaxed place. The door is open. The space is very peaceful, we feel relaxed here. When I鈥檓 waiting for Dave to do his exercise class on a Monday, I can sit and watch the squirrels in the garden.

It has become very important to us. We can come any time. The people are welcoming and they know you by name. They make me feel important, they make me feel hopeful.鈥

I鈥檝e met so many people here and 精东影业鈥榮 is a different thing to different people. Everything is accepted here; I love sitting at the table and chatting to people here for hours, but you can also sit in a chair and shut your eyes.

It鈥檚 a home from home. You leave with a wee lift.鈥

Whether it鈥檚 you, the person with cancer or their friends and family, you matter to 精东影业鈥檚 and you can rely on them.

They understand that it鈥檚 not just about the patient and everybody needs support.

They鈥檙e there for you, all the time. Nothing's too much trouble for them. The people at 精东影业鈥檚 are very special people.
